HORSE TRICKS

When observing stallions running free, we can often witness a whole range of natural tricks. Horses play with one another, full of energy. They tease each other, rear up to show off their size and dominance, and establish their place in the herd. With joy, they kick their hind legs high into the air. Foals, born with disproportionately long legs, often kneel to nibble on grass—a common practice among these animals. Horses are intelligent and prefer not to overexert themselves. They simplify life with various acrobatics, “bows,” and contortions to reach the tasty grass just beyond the fence.
Always remember that trick training with your horse should be fun—something that brings joy to both you and your horse, putting smiles on your faces! Approach each session with a relaxed attitude, realistic expectations, and a good sense of humor. Make sure your horse is well-rested and in good condition before you begin. Stress and tension are quickly sensed by horses, and training should be an enjoyable experience they look forward to.

Working with a horse without a bridle—based entirely on the animal’s willingness and desire to cooperate with a human—has fascinated me for years. In fact, from the very beginning of my horseback riding journey, I was searching for alternatives to traditional methods. I dared to step outside the commonly accepted framework of riding, which seemed too superficial and failed to explore the complex psychology of the horse and its attitude toward partnership with the rider. Bridleless riding turned out to be the greatest and most time-consuming challenge of my equestrian life—yet it also brought the most satisfaction and joy with every step forward.
